Senseless Violence

It has been pointed out to me that Auburn lost a freshman girl to violence. I was not aware of this at the time. I  had learned about the UNC girl , Eva Carson, because I have a brother who knew her.

I do wish to extend my condolences to  the Auburn freshman Lauren Burk family, her Delta Gamma Sisters, friends and the whole Auburn community.

Many of the recent events just highlights that being in college is not a cocoon  against the senseless violence and the world is smaller now so many times we are individually touched by this acts of violence.

Senseless Violence

It is always a tragedy when violence takes a life.  It is particularly poiniant and deeply felt when it is a young person.  My condolences, prayers and thoughts of comfort go to these families and the college communities that are saddened and mourning for their losses.  We send our children to University with the hope they grow and succeed and don't envision they will be touched by violence and death.  From Virginia Tech to NIU to Lauren Burk and Eve Carson we have been reminded much too often of violence and loss on college campuses nationwide.

Peace, love and prayers to all who have lost and mourn.  May you be comforted.
